In short

  • What you save, browse and keep stays on your phone. There's no account, and we have no copy of any of it.
  • Downloads come straight from the site to you, never through us.
  • No analytics and no crash reporting.
  • The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, you're asked first, and you can change your choice in Settings.
  • What reaches us: feedback you choose to send, a daily settings request, and a subscription check if you pay for Pro. We don't sell data.

1. Who we are

VidSave is made by Syaafi Labs (Syaafi Labs Enterprise). Questions about this policy: support@syaafilabs.com.

2. What stays on your phone

The videos you save go to Movies/VidSave, where your gallery finds them, or to a folder you choose in Settings. Your download list, with the addresses the files came from, your browser history, bookmarks and open tabs, and your settings (Wi-Fi only, the default quality, whether adult sites are hidden, and the sites where you turned ad blocking off) are kept in VidSave's own storage on the phone. None of it is uploaded, backed up to us, or readable by us. History is capped, and old entries drop off on their own.

Videos in the vault are encrypted in the app's private storage, opened with your PIN or fingerprint, and never reach your gallery. A vault video is paused when the screen goes off, so its name never shows on the lock screen.

An incognito tab has its own cookies and site data, separate from your other tabs. Its pages are not kept in history, and its cookies and site data are deleted when the last incognito tab closes. A link you copy from an incognito page and open from the "Open copied link?" prompt opens in an ordinary tab.

Settings › Clear browsing history removes every page in history. Uninstalling VidSave removes everything it stored, the vault included; videos already saved to your gallery or folder stay until you delete them.

3. Sites you visit, and where downloads come from

VidSave's browser connects to a site the way any browser does, and a download comes straight from that site's servers to your phone. To be served the file, VidSave asks for it with the same details the page used, including that site's own cookies, which go only to that site. Nothing is routed through us, and we have no way to see or store it.

The site you visit sees what it would normally see: your IP address, its own cookies and whatever it records about visitors. Its own privacy policy applies. VidSave won't save video from a service that protects it, and saving someone's work doesn't make it yours: keep to what you are allowed to keep.

4. The daily settings file

About once a day, the app asks Syaafi Labs for a small settings file: how often ads may appear, download limits, the sites the browser blocks, corrections to the browser's built-in ad list, rules that help it find videos on pages, switches to turn a feature off, and the oldest app version still supported. Every phone gets the same file, and the request carries no identifier. Most requests are answered by Cloudflare's cache and never reach our server. One that does arrives with your IP address, like any web request, and is used only to answer it and keep the service running, never to build a profile of you.

5. Limits on requests

To turn away floods, our server counts how often the feedback form is used from one IP address, and how often the subscription check comes from one installation. Each count is kept under a scrambled form of the address or installation number, and is forgotten within a day.

6. No analytics, no crash reporting

VidSave contains no analytics library and no crash reporter. We don't know what you searched for, which sites you opened or what you downloaded, and we don't count how often you use the app. The one trace of use is the subscription check: for someone who pays for Pro, we keep the time of the last check.

7. Permissions

Internet and network state: to load pages, download files, and know whether you are on Wi-Fi when you have asked downloads to wait for it.

Foreground service (data sync): so a download keeps going, with a notification, after you leave the app. Foreground service (media playback): so a video keeps playing, with controls on the lock screen, when you leave the player.

Notifications (optional): download progress and the notice when a file is ready. If you say no, everything else still works. Wake lock: to stop the phone sleeping in the middle of a download.

VidSave never asks for access to all your files, and never asks for your location, camera, microphone or contacts. Videos are saved through Android's media store, which needs no storage permission, and screenshots for feedback come through Android's photo picker, which shares only the pictures you pick.

8. Cookies on these pages

VidSave's pages on this site, this policy among them, set no cookies of their own and have no analytics. The site's network, Cloudflare, sets a security cookie, __cf_bm, for 30 minutes to tell people from bots, and on some pages a second one, _cfuvid. Both are Cloudflare's, and neither is used by us for tracking or ads.

9. Your choices

Clear your history in Settings, delete saved videos from your gallery or from VidSave's Library, and uninstall the app to remove everything it stored. Write to support@syaafilabs.com to ask what feedback of yours we hold, to correct or delete it, or to delete the record of a subscription that has ended. We answer within 30 days.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, our lawful basis is your consent for personalised ads, our contract with you for checking the Pro you paid for, and our legitimate interest in answering feedback and keeping the app working for the little else described here. You can complain to your national data protection authority.

10. Feedback

If you use Settings › Send feedback, nothing is sent until you tap Send. We then receive the kind of problem you picked, your message, up to 3 screenshots if you attach them, and your email address only if you give one for a reply. Unless you untick "Include app version, Android version and phone model" (it starts ticked), it also carries the app version, Android version, phone model, WebView version and language. Screenshots are made smaller on your phone, and the details a photo carries, such as where it was taken, are removed before they are sent; they are stored privately, seen only by our team in our admin area, and deleted with the message. To turn away floods of messages we use your IP address when it arrives, and store with the message only a scrambled form of it, made with a secret key of ours, which shows that several messages came from one place without saying where. Someone holding both that and our key could work the address out by trying every possible one, so the key is guarded like a password. We use feedback only to answer you and improve VidSave, keep it for up to 12 months, and never sell or share it. Ask us to delete yours and we will, within 30 days. If sending fails, the form offers Email us instead: your own email app opens with your message (and the details, if ticked, but not the screenshots), and it is sent from your email account like any other email.

11. Ads

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob: a banner in the Library, a full-screen ad after a download finishes, an ad when you open the app, and a video ad you can choose to watch to save one video above 720p. Ads never appear over the browser while you're on a site, and never inside the player. To choose and measure ads, AdMob collects your device's advertising ID, device and app information, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, and whether you saw or tapped an ad. That data goes to Google, not to us; we see only counts of ads shown and money earned. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, VidSave asks for your choice with Google's consent form before any personalised ad is requested, and you can change it at any time in Settings › Ad choices. On any phone you can reset or delete the advertising ID in Android's own settings. A Pro subscription turns ads off. How Google uses this data: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

12. Purchases

VidSave Pro is a subscription through Google Play: US$19.99 a year or US$3.33 a month. It removes ads and unlocks higher qualities, full speed, more downloads at once, batch download, the private vault and ad blocking in the browser. Google handles the payment and the renewal, and you can cancel any time in Google Play; we never see your name, your Google account or how you paid. To know whether Pro should be on, the app sends our server the purchase token from Google Play and a random number VidSave makes when it is installed, which tells one installation from another and says nothing else about you; Google is given the same number when you buy, so that Restore finds your subscription. The app sends them after you buy, when you tap Restore, when you open the Pro screen, and when it starts while your Google account holds a subscription; if it holds none, nothing is sent. With the token we ask Google about the purchase and keep its answer: the plan, whether it is a trial, whether it renews and when it ends, its state, the country it was bought in, and Google's record of the purchase, which includes its order number and dates and, if you gave one, why it was cancelled. We also keep which screen in the app the purchase started from and when it was last checked, and Google tells us when a subscription renews, lapses or is refunded. We use this only to turn Pro on and off and to answer a question about a payment, and keep it as the record of the sale. Once your subscription has ended, ask us to delete it and we will, within 30 days.

13. Children

VidSave isn't directed at children under 13.
