Privacy policy

ZipBox · Last updated [DATE]

In short

  • Your archives and files never leave your phone.
  • ZipBox only sees the files and folders you pick.
  • Passwords are used only while needed and are never saved.
  • The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. You choose what it may use in Settings.
  • There are no accounts, and we don't sell data.

1. Who we are

ZipBox is made by Syaafi Labs (Syaafi Labs Enterprise). Questions about this policy: support@syaafilabs.com.

2. Your archives and files

ZipBox opens only the archives you pick, open with it, or share into it, and the files you add to a new zip. They are read on your phone and are not uploaded to us or to anyone else.

Extracted files go to Downloads/ZipBox or to a folder you choose; new zips go to Downloads/ZipBox. ZipBox never writes outside the folder you chose. When you preview or open a single file from an archive, it is unpacked to the app's private cache, which is cleaned automatically.

3. Folders you pick

When you choose a folder to extract into, Android gives ZipBox access to that folder only. The app remembers it, so it can offer the same folder next time.

4. Passwords

A password you type to open an archive is kept in memory only while that archive is open. A password for a new zip is used only while the zip is made. Passwords are never saved, never logged and never sent anywhere. If you forget one, ZipBox can't recover it.

5. Recent list

The home screen lists up to 30 archives you opened and zips you made, kept only on your phone. For archives you opened, the app keeps permission to read them again when Android allows it; it doesn't copy them. Removing an entry never deletes an archive you received. For a zip ZipBox made, it asks whether to delete the file too.

6. Background work

Extracting and making zips run as background jobs, so they keep going when you leave the app. While a job runs, Android shows a notification with the progress and a Cancel button.

7. Permissions

Notifications (optional): to show the progress of an extraction or a new zip while you use other apps.

The app has no storage permission and no "all files access". APK files inside an archive are shown as files only: ZipBox can't install apps.

8. Feedback

If you send feedback from Settings, we receive your message, its type, your email if you give it, the app version, Android version, phone model and language. We use it only to answer you and improve ZipBox, keep it for up to 12 months, and never sell or share it. Your IP address isn't stored with it.

9. Ads

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address (which gives an approximate location), how you interact with ads, and diagnostic information. Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, the UK and some US states), you are asked for consent first. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Ad privacy choices. A Premium subscription in the app turns ads off.

10. Purchases

Premium is a subscription (US$2 a month or US$20 a year) sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment and the renewal, and you can cancel any time in Google Play. ZipBox only learns whether your subscription is active.

11. Children

ZipBox isn't directed at children under 13.

12. Changes

When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
