What it does

Swipe · 6
01Look inside firstBrowse folders, search by name, and preview pictures and text files without extracting anything.
02Take out what you needExtract everything or just the files you select, to Downloads/ZipBox or a folder you choose. Folders are kept.
03ZIP, 7z, RAR and moreOpens ZIP, 7z, RAR 4, TAR, GZ, BZ2 and XZ. A renamed file still opens, because the app checks what the file really is.
04PasswordsOpen password-protected ZIP, 7z and RAR 4 files, and protect the zips you make with AES-256.
05Readable namesZips made on Windows in Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Russian show their file names correctly.
06Safe by designNever writes outside the folder you chose, and asks first before unpacking an archive that grows suspiciously large.

Three steps

  1. Open an archive

From the app, with "Open with ZipBox" in your file manager, or share it in from WhatsApp or email.

  2. Look inside

Browse the folders, preview a picture or a text file, and select what you need.

  3. Extract

To Downloads/ZipBox or a folder you pick. If a file is already there: keep both, replace or skip.

Privacy

  • Archives are opened, extracted and made on your phone. Nothing is uploaded.
  • No storage permission: ZipBox only sees the files and folders you pick.
  • Passwords are never saved.
  • The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects some data. You can change your ad choices in Settings.

Does ZipBox need access to all my files?

No. It opens only the archives you pick or share, and writes only to Downloads/ZipBox or a folder you choose.

Why won't my RAR file open?

ZipBox opens RAR 4 archives. It can't open the newer RAR 5 format yet, and tells you so when an archive uses it.

Why can't Windows open my password zip?

ZipBox protects zips with AES-256, a strong kind of zip password. The unzip built into Windows can't open these; most archive apps can.

I forgot the password. Can ZipBox open it?

No. There is no way in without the password, and ZipBox never stores passwords.
