Privacy policy

Fogly · Last updated [DATE]

In short

  • Your pictures, PDFs and videos never leave your phone.
  • Faces and text are processed only on the phone, to find what to hide, and are never used to identify anyone.
  • The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. You choose what it may use in Settings.
  • There are no accounts, and we don't sell data.

1. Who we are

Fogly is made by Syaafi Labs (Syaafi Labs Enterprise). Questions about this policy: support@syaafilabs.com.

2. Your pictures, PDFs and videos

The pictures, PDFs and videos you pick or share in are processed on your phone. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else.

A video shared to the app is copied privately so its faces can be found and it can be exported later; a picked one is read where it is. The copy, the faces found in it and your changes are deleted when you discard the video, replace it with another, or 7 days after your last change.

While you work on them, the app keeps a private copy and your changes, so nothing is lost if the app closes. They are deleted when you save or share the result, discard it, or 7 days after your last change. A password-protected PDF's unlocked copy is deleted as soon as you close it.

Results are saved as new files where you choose, without location, camera details or hidden previews. Your originals are never changed.

So you can find them again in the Library, the app keeps a small list of the results it saved (where each one is, its name, size and date), only on your phone and not in Google's cloud backup. It lists only files the app saved itself, never your other photos or files. Removing a result from the Library or deleting it updates the list; uninstalling the app deletes it.

3. Faces and text

To find what to hide, the app finds faces and reads the text and codes in your pictures with Google's ML Kit, on your phone. Faces are found, never recognised: nothing is compared between pictures, and no face data is sent.

In a video, small faces are also found with YuNet, a face-finding model inside the app. Each face is followed from frame to frame by where it is, never by who it is. So you can review them, where each face is in the video and a small picture of it are kept with the video's work on your phone, out of cloud backup, and deleted with it.

Text read from a picture is used only while you edit it. Unfinished work keeps only short, masked labels (such as "Card ···· 3012"), never the full numbers.

4. Your words

Words you ask Fogly to remember (such as your name) are kept only on your phone, so they can be hidden in new pictures. They are not included in Google's cloud backup or a phone-to-phone transfer. You can remove them in Settings.

5. Permissions

Notifications (optional): to show the progress of long jobs, such as a big batch, a long PDF or a video. The app has no access to your gallery or files beyond what you pick or share and the results it saved itself.

6. Google Play services and ML Kit

Reading text, finding faces and reading codes use Google's ML Kit, delivered by Google Play services. ML Kit may send Google information about how it performs (such as device and app details), never your pictures, PDFs or their text.

7. Feedback

If you send feedback from Settings, we receive your message, its type, your email if you give it, the app version, Android version, phone model and language. We use it only to answer you and improve Fogly, keep it for up to 12 months, and never sell or share it. Your IP address isn't stored with it.

8. Ads

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address (which gives an approximate location), how you interact with ads, and diagnostic information. Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, the UK and some US states), you are asked for consent first. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Ad privacy choices. A Premium subscription in the app turns ads off.

9. Purchases

Premium is a subscription (US$2 a month or US$20 a year) sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment and the renewal, and you can cancel any time in Google Play. Fogly only learns whether your subscription is active.

10. Children

Fogly isn't directed at children under 13.

11. Changes

When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
