Privacy policy

PDF Reader · Last updated [DATE]

In short

  • Your PDFs never leave your phone.
  • The app only sees the PDFs you open with it. It doesn't use "All files access".
  • The free version shows a banner ad from Google AdMob. You choose what it may use in Settings.
  • There are no accounts, and we don't sell data.

1. Who we are

PDF Reader is made by Syaafi Labs (Syaafi Labs Enterprise). Questions about this policy: support@syaafilabs.com.

2. Your PDFs

The PDFs you open in PDF Reader are shown on your phone. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and PDF Reader doesn't change them.

3. Recent files

Recent lists up to 30 PDFs you opened in PDF Reader: the file name, when you opened it, the page you were on, and a link to open it again. The list is kept by the app on your phone and is never sent to us. Swipe a file away to remove it from the list; the file itself isn't deleted.

For a file you pick with Browse PDFs, PDF Reader keeps Android's permission to read that one file, so it still opens after a restart. The permission is given back when the file leaves the list.

4. Private copies

When you open a PDF from another app with "Open with", Android often allows access only for a short time. So that the file still opens from Recent later, PDF Reader keeps a private copy in its own storage. No other app can see these copies unless you share one, and they are left out of Android's cloud backup.

A copy is deleted when you remove its file from Recent or when the file drops off the list. When all copies together pass 200 MB, the oldest are deleted first. Uninstalling the app deletes them all.

5. Permissions

PDF Reader doesn't ask for any permissions, and it doesn't use "All files access". It can only read the PDFs you open with it, share into it or pick with Browse PDFs.

6. Feedback

If you send feedback from Settings, we receive your message, its type, your email if you give it, the app version, Android version, phone model and language. We use it only to answer you and improve PDF Reader, keep it for up to 12 months, and never sell or share it. Your IP address isn't stored with it.

7. Ads

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address (which gives an approximate location), how you interact with ads, and diagnostic information. Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, the UK and some US states), you are asked for consent first. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Ad privacy choices. A Premium subscription in the app turns ads off.

8. Purchases

Premium is a subscription (US$2 a month or US$20 a year) sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment and the renewal, and you can cancel any time in Google Play. PDF Reader only learns whether your subscription is active.

9. Children

PDF Reader isn't directed at children under 13.

10. Changes

When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
